Workshop: Solar Boat

Our first workshop was held on 17th June!

In this workshop, the members were invited to build their own solar boat using the material given. The purpose of the workshop is to help members have a further understanding about solar cell and how it can be applied in real life.

The materials provided are:
  • solar panels with different output voltage and efficiency
  • 2 types of propellers (one type of propellers can work under water, another type cannot work under water)
  • motors
  • necessary tools like cutters, wires and tickers
We also provided the swimming pool for our members to test their boats.

Our IG's members were divided into 2 teams and can choose the materials they need to build their boat.

They are focusing on their works!

This is Team 1's solar boat! They chose milk bottle as the boday of their boat. The red propellers which can work under water was equipped. The solar boat they used is the bigger one which can make sure sufficient power is provided!

Let's see how team 1's solar boat works!!

This cute solar boat was done by team 2! They used the Milo bottle and the propeller than can work above the water to build their boat. The solar boat they chose was the smaller but lighter one with lower output voltage, but it still worked well!

Team 2's boat also works well!
